Jamie, I think it is very easy for to furnish this friends birth certificate with Payal written all over it, she was in one of the courses with me and a really good friend, if PayPal decides to raise a bad faith case against me for Payal.com

I don't think this name should be a problem for Paypal in any way.. and of course if it was then they should have registered it long time back when they started..

Payal is indeed an Indian name. Its evident from the numerous Indian blogs available at clipped.in

**Jamie Says**
Thank you for the info. I wasn't questioning if the domain was an indian name but pointing out the potential trademark issues due to the current Ads being on the domain. ;)

Payal is a very famous name and also a popular ornament that women and women dancers wear on their ankle.

**Jamie Says**
Thank you RKB, but I was pointing to the issue of the "paypal" terms and likeness on the paypal.com service on the current parking page. Never questioned if it meant anything else (Name, Jewelry), but thank you again for pointing that out.

Jamie,
Payal is indeed a very popular girl indian name.
I have 2 indian friends called Payal.
Payal is also the Hindi term for anklet. My wife has a collection of payals.

The description is right.

If you ask anyone in the 1 billion people (one sixth of the world population) that live in India what is 'Payal' they would give you the above answers. The majority of them have probably never heard of PayPal.

It is unfortunate for the seller that the parking page is serving such ads (payment processing). That's the only thing that can bring them down. (I'm not sure, but could that be the parking company's fault here?)

Do you reckon Paypal.com should have Payal.com ?
I can picture a great website at Payal.com selling Payals worldwide.

**Jamie Says**
Hi Ritz,
I do not think Paypal has the "right" to Payal but laws are laws and currently the Sedo parking page is placing ads that pertain to their (paypal) trademark. I also do think it would be wise for Paypal to own the domain as it's a clear Typo of Paypal. I do not really think it's Sedo's fault, as the owner of the domain can set the keywords but that always doesn't work either. In the case with a domain like Payal, the owner would be MUCH safer just Forwarding the domain to the domains listing page at Sedo or the auction page. The domain does appear "clean" up to when the owner parked it at sedo in the end of 2006 and most of 2007. The current owner might get away with selling it (might not as well) but the new owner (if sold) stands a chance at losing it as well IMO.
