Once again Sedo.com has brought in another very strong six figure domain name sale and this time it is Pilot.com which sold for $300,000 USD! Pilot.com was first registered in Aug of 1993 and has had privacy protection on whois until yesterday 3-31-2010 when Sedo reported the sale.

The whois now shows DBC, LLC as the owner. The registrant has an email address as Hearst.com, which is a very large media company that owns many great generic domain names. Since George Kliavkoff is listed as registrant, I would have to say that Hearst was the buyer because he is the executive vice president at Hearst.

The domain name currently remains parked as the past owner had the domain but I would expect to see that change shortly.

Pilot.com at $300,000 puts it the 7th highest reported domain name sale of the year according to DnJournal.com’s YTD sales chart.

  1. Poker.org $1,000,000
  2. Credit.fr $851,875
  3. Guns.com $800,000
  4. Files.com $725,000
  5. PartySupplies.com $360,000
  6. ScreenSavers.com $335,000
  7. Pilot.com $300,000
  8. MusicVideos.com $250,000
  9. Biking.com $250,000
  10. Boating.com $250,000

It will be interesting to see how they use the domain as it wouldn’t appear they are in the airline business…. so I would think it may be used with TV or print in some way.
