Hi Guys, It is Tom Nardone from Vibrators.com. I wanted to explain why we use Yahoo! store.

11 years ago when we started our business we signed on with a company called ViaWeb. ViaWeb had the best shoppin platform of the day and it went really well.

Eventually, Yahoo! bought ViaWeb and we still love their shopping platform. In fact, we are quite married to it. We program in the specific language of Yahoo! store and know all of the tricks to make the site do what we want.

I can't say that the favicon or the checkout badging are the way to go or not, it is just the way we do things.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys.

@John,
I will ask the reason behind the Yahoo store, link change when adding to the cart and the Yahoo favicon and see what I can find out.

@ Michael,
I did a little more digging and it appears Rio.com was purchased by Keith Levenson who actually never owned Vibrators.com... he does own the singular, Vibrator.com . I checked with Tom and he said the past owner of Vibrators.com didn't purchase Rio.com .

Vibrators.com seems to be running a Yahoo store. Interesting... wondering about: Yahoo favicon, Yahoo url at checkout, etc. Wonder if it helps or hurts. Would be curious to know if he A/B tested with other ecommerce solutions. Maybe merging a generic name product site with a Yahoo branded storefront is a better way to go!
Thanks Jamie.

Very interesting article, nice to read about a business owner with an understanding for the value of generic domains. Interesting trivia about the domain seller buying Rio.com as well!

Thank you for that Michael. I wasn't aware the buyer of Rio.com was the seller of Vibrators.com. I agree that he reinvested it wisely.

The previous owner of Vibrators.com used his money well and invested in buying Rio.com

Rio.com is one great brand with a lot of potential and many verticals.
