I had wrote about both the RealChocolate.com and OscarMayer.com marketing efforts they were used in offering coupons for FREE product. Today, they both showed up in my mailbox (snail mail) and I wanted to share what they looked like and if they used any other domain names in the process.
RealChocolate.com was a Mars® promotion for free chocolate of any of it’s brand’s. I would say they had the nicest looking of the two mailings. They referenced and thanked you for visiting RealChocolate.com. Nothing more about a website was mentioned for any of it’s brands. I think it would of been wise to further promote any one of it’s brands by displaying at least a couple like Snickers.com, Twix.com or M&M’s but it simply included a package of it’s candy. (I helped with my links)
but some of it’s domain names are NOT product/brand matching… and the reason behind the further promoting isn’t a bad idea IMO!
MandMs.com is NOT the M&M’s® product site.. It’s m-ms.com . Dove.com is the soap and not the candy etc.
Here is a picture of both the front and the back of the RealChocolate.com mailing:

As I said, it was a nice mailing for sure!
OscarMayer.com was next in my stack of mail and it used a post card size piece for it’s mailing. It was a bi-fold with the coupon inside. With it’s promotion, Oscar Mayer® was giving away $1 Million Dollars worth of it’s Beef Franks product and offered it’s coupon on OscarMayer.com after you filled out a small form.
I was a little more impressed with the marketing of Oscar Mayer as they used another domain name to further get the customers help. I think it’s pretty common when somebody get’s something for free, they are more willing to "do" something for the company.. The sad thing (to me)… they used a YouTube.com domain… in the mailing.
I would of liked to see them use a call to action domain with something related to their product and use domain forwarding to the long youtube domain, but it wasn’t. The URL provided on the mailing was www.youtube.com/group/oscarmayerfeedback asking you to send in a video review.
Here are some pictures of the mailing used by Oscar Mayer.

Thank you to both companies for the FREE products and I’m sure the millions of other’s who signed up for the coupons were happy when they opened up the mail box today or will be in the coming weeks!
Both were nice mailings, but I think both could of been a little better further promoting it’s other brands "sites" and using a call-to-action instead of a long ass youtube domain.

I got my free hot dog coupon today… as for the free candy coupon, I must have missed that one. I just went to the site and wasn’t able to get it yet. I guess they give away so many every Friday and they are now gone. But they offered to remind me when they are available again. The only thing wrong with their site is there was no “email” in the name field, so Firefox could not auto-complete my email – simple but common form oversight.
