Last year Pepsi spent $33 Million on advertisements during the Super Bowl and it’s ads run. This year, for the first time in 23 years Pepsi will not be running ads during the Super Bowl and is putting it’s money towards projects submitted and voted on by people at RefreshEverything.com .  Jan 13, 2010 anybody and everybody can submit an idea until Jan 24th.

Starting today, Feb 1, 2010 until Feb 28th 2010 you can start voting on the ideas! The site seems to be getting overloaded with traffic today, so be patient but you can vote here!

It’s simple, you, your company or organization can submit ideas each month that you think will have a positive impact.

Based on voting, the winners each month will be given a grant of either $5K, $25K, $50K or $250K.

The grants are broken up into categories of the following:

  • Health
  • Arts & Culture
  • Food & Shelter
  • The Planet
  • Neighborhoods
  • Education

So what is a good idea like?

You can see several good ideas posted on the RefreshEverything.com blog and also learn a lot more about the project.

Pepsi is really doing a great thing with this Refresh Everything Project and it makes me much happier that $20 Million will be put into some very positive projects voted and submitted by people like you and me instead of going on a handful of Super Bowl ads! This is a great use of what many people would consider a microsite but the site itself is much bigger then a microsite!

It is to note that Pepsi used the RefreshEverything.com domain name in many of it’s 2009 Super Bowl ads and is wisely still using the domain! Pepsi ties in social networking nicely on the site as well with Facebook and Twitter pages as well as links back to it’s PepsiUSA.com site.

I know it is too late to join the contest, however my idea with the help of a bottling company such as yourself would SAVE THE RAIN FOREST. IT IS SIMPLE REALLY. You bottle water from the regions you are trying to save and sell them worldwide. There would be a surcharge of .50 cents per bottle to buy up the rain forest and make it a preserve. With every sale each individual would be doing their part to contribute to the future of the earth just by drinking a bottle of water. It is a win for pepsi plus a win for the planet. It could employ the local residents and some of the money could be used to educate the population so they would not to strip cut the forest for farm land. Once enough land is bought the money could be pumped into the region for the same purpose. What do you think? Phone number is 205-249-4904.The commercials would be so easy. Just show the progress. If you run with this idea I would love to be a part of it. Thank you Eddie.

I believe that pepsico should focus more on the military and their families. How about having photos of our military personel on the cans. Please do not use their names; I believe that is very private. This maybe an incentive for our military & future military personel. When I was in the military I drank alot of Pepsi products. This can tie in with Mrs. Obama campaign for our youth to exer-cise. You guys can go far with this idea.

    Peace & Blessings!
