It was reported a little earlier today that Retweet.com, the popular term at the social networking site Twitter.com is listed for sale on NameJet.com in the Pre-Release section. I checked and it is listed, but it really shouldn’t be listed according to the owner of Retweet.com and what I can see.

I did some searching into the domain via Whois and Retweet.com is registered with Godaddy.com and doesn’t expire until 2014. Secondly, Retweet.com is also currently a site.
Although NameJet.com does let some customers list domain names for sale on NameJet.com in the Pre-Release section, everyone that I have ever seen before were registered with eNom and Privacy was added to block the owner. Not matching this data put up several red flags for me.
I contacted the owner of Retweet.com to verify if the domain is for sale or not and his reply was:
Retweet.com is definitely not for sale
NameJet definitely has Retweet.com listed in the pre-release section and still has the domain listed live on it’s site and it’s set to go to auction tomorrow with pre-bids ending tonight.
I am not 100% sure what the deal is here, but Retweet.com owner Tyson as clearly said it’s not for sale and by the info that I can see, the domain name should Not be in the pre-release section or any section for that matter at NameJet.com.
Doing more digging via whois history… The domain was registered with NameSecure.com (enom reseller) up until 1-2009 but was then transferred to Godaddy.com at that time. The expire date in Jan 09 was 5-14-2009, but the domain name was transferred on or around 2-3-2009 to Godaddy.com in which the owner renewed it until 2014.
So no expire date was even close.
This is likely the case of a "Ghost Record" at eNom… when the domain was transferred away… but this still shouldn’t happen or reach the point it has or will go.
It would be nice to hear why NameJet has this listed, but it is Highly unlikely that anybody from NameJet will reply. If they do reply after me saying that, great!

We thought it was a strange listing but hadn’t done much more investigation. We posted an update to the story with a backlink to your update. Thank you

We apologize for the confusion. NameSecure supplies NameJet pre-release inventory through our partner Network Solutions and apparently retweet.com was not marked as transferred away in their systems. We have removed it from the system.

Thank you for stopping by and explaining what happened, while also removing the issue. Will there be any new safeguards put in place to prevent like problems from happening in the future?
NameJet GM
Jamie,
We will work with our partners to ensure that registration status is verified during the process of compiling their expired inventory to send to us.
