I happened to run across a "dead link" on my blog from a past story I wrote about The Henkle Company and it’s Duck® brand duck tape and the matching DuckTape.com domain name they used for their product.
I thought it was a bit odd that the link would be "dead" so it made me look into the DuckTape.com domain name and see what’s up.
The Answer
The Henkle Company sold the Duck Brand in June of 2009 and the domain name went with the sale to the buyers ShurTech Brands LLC.
According to Whois History records, DuckTape.com changed ownership on 8-25-2009 to ShurTech Brands LLC.
The domain name DuckTape.com currently does not resolve at all and why I am showing the link as "dead". Why ShurTech is not currently forwarding or using the DuckTape.com domain name, I am not sure.
ShurTech also purchased the Painter’s Mate Green® brand which uses the domain name TheGreenTape.com . TheGreenTape.com changed ownership from Henkel to ShurTech on 8-26-2009. A David Rodgers owns PaintersMateGreen.com which still shows "Henkel" but the location of the plant that makes the tape.
The "main" domain name used for the Duck® brand is DuckProducts.com, which also transferred from Henkle to ShurTech on 8-26-2009.
"Other" domains that I am aware of the Duck brand owned and used that were also transferred from Henkle to ShurTech include: DuckTapeClub.com and StuckAtProm.com.
ShurTech already owned the brand Frog Tape® and the matching FrogTape.com domain name.
The sale of the two brands was sold for an undisclosed amount. You can learn more about ShurTech and their brands at ShurTech.com .
Frank Schilling owns the "other" spelling of the famous tape DuctTape.com .
