Today, two of the most popular social networking sites are getting hit with DOS or also called DDOS attacks. The result of this takes down the sites totally or the sites only work from time to time for some people.

Now if you consider that most people have Twitter.com and Facebook.com bookmarked, the user goes to the bookmark and visits the site. It either does not load, or they try to log in and get a network timeout error.

They take another sip of coffee, just in case they think they are a bit foggy brained..

Second try fails and after another sip of Joe, they decided to go to the mini search box in their browser and type in facebook.com login or twitter.com login or twitter.com home or www.facebook.com login or www.twitter.com login which results in a Google or Yahoo search.

Search engines are Fix All’s? The link Google displays for Twitter.com is going to be different then the one you use daily? Like a secret log in link….

NO!

The user already is very likely visiting the proper location (domain name) but the fact is, the site just currently isn’t working. It happens a lot. Websites go down due to hardware issues, attacks, updates etc.

Instead of doing a "search" on a search engine for something you already know or at least likely know…

Use the sites down time to take your third sip of coffee, walk the dog or visit TheWebsiteIsDown.com and enjoy a couple videos. It’s likely that after you are done watching some vids, your bookmark will work again!

Episode #1 is my Fav btw which is the video above ;)

    You’re right, that video was great! That was so nice of him to sort his desktop alphabetically and then put it back… just the way he found it. LMAO! How soon until he calls the IT guy back? : )

    @John,
    I get a kick out of that video every time I watch it. I like the line where he say’s you can’t sort the icons by penis. LOL
