News
The owners of the domain name had sent a press release stating the auction would take place April 28, 2010 but that auction never took place. SnapNames.com was then named the exclusive company to auction the domain name and now the auction is live.
It will be interesting to see if the domain name gets any action in the auction and if it were to sell and transfer ownership, the domain holds the chance of gaining the #1 spot of reported domain names sales so far in 2010 at the reserve price. Currently Flying.com holds the number one spot with a sale at $1.1 Million and closely behind another gambling related domain name Poker.org at $1 Million.
Bidding is open until May 12, 2010 and you can view or place a bid on Slots.com here.

With traffic, this domain is MAYBE worth $1.5 million (at most); the $6-million reserve is crazy…it won’t sell at that price.
Jamie Zoch
@Viper,
With Poker.org selling for $1.5M and slots being a much higher revenue maker for casino’s, I think Slots.com can grab a bit more than Poker.org did. Poker.org traffic estimates were around 4.7K around the time of the sale. Also, Poker.org is a .org and secondly doesn’t hold anywhere near the SERP’s Slots.com does. Will it sell for $6M.. we will have to wait and see.
Viper
I predict a high bid of $1.35 million.
Jamie Zoch
The bidding starts at $6M, so you would not see any bids lower than that in this auction.
Viper
@Jaime,
If you think Slots.com is worth $1.5 to $6 million, I’d like to know how much you think these domains worth that I’ve just found on Sedo…my line of thinking is that once the Slots.com sale is announced to the masses at x-millions of dollars, there will be quite a bit of interest in generic, two-worded “slots” domains for a little while, so I’m thinking of picking up a couple to mark-up for re-sale…make sense?:
SantaSlots.com (asking $1900)
MommaSlots.com (asking $1499)
GoldmineSlots.com (asking $299)
ZippySlots.com (asking $100)

Slots traffic/search volume is like 10% of poker. Slots are also less entertaining/competitive/engaging/interactive than poker.
That said I look forward to SnapNames surprising us all.
Viper
@Adam,
I think they’ll surprise us with a no-bid auction! LOL!
Jamie Zoch
@Viper,
I wouldn’t personally invest in any domains you posted. The single word generics and exact match popular terms are and will always be the best. Yes, when a domain sale is announced it causes similar domains to sell many times.. but those similar domains are almost always second best.

@ Adam,
I agree Poker is WAY more popular based on search volume. As with many domain name sales, the WANT factor often becomes the Key Factor! Then search volumes, traffic, links etc all pretty much go out the window it seems in the buyers eye.

I think I’m going to buy goldmineslots.com & zippyslots.com; they’re cheap and I’ll bet I get a double on them within two weeks!
Viper
Bido is for sale! Just got the email from them…the entire platform, business, etc. is up for sale.
I’ll give ‘em 28-bucks for the whole ball-o-wax! LOL!

Talkative crowd today.
Mike
It was just radiculous starting bid. I think it should start arounda t 1 million.
I would guess 99% sure there would not be any bids from 6 millions.
