Thanks for this post, which clears up an auction snafu that I was involved in at SnapNames recently. I posted the situation at NamePros, but I didn&#039;t get a good answer. 

Anyway, what happened is SnapNames started an auction on a really decent name (I thought est. at XX,XXX in value), and I was kicking myself when I missed the auction deadline, and that some dude got the name for like $284. But then I checked the whois, and the name had reverted back to the original registrant, who had apparently succesfully re-registered the name before the drop deadline.

This post has helped me understand that SnapNames apparently has an issue with their DBs not updating appropriately. The girls and boys over there get that sorted soon or, as you say, they are going to lose a lot of trust.</description>
