SnapNames.com has been down since July 4, 2008 with today being the 6th. Their is a short note on their site saying auctions for the 4th & 5th will be ending on the 8th.

Does this mean they plan on being down until the 8th? That is my guess and I have not heard what the problem is. They are clearly having serious issues and I’m sure are working to fix them as they are losing large amounts of cash!

It also appears they are not catching any Pending Delete status domains, as Pool and eNom are grabbing most of them. Some lucky backorder over at Godaddy grabbed a nice VCVC .com yesterday as well. UWIP.com for only $18.99…

If you would like to try your luck with a backorder at Godaddy, it might be worth a shot. You can place your backorder(s) here which Godaddy calls DomainAlert Pro Backordering.

I checked several LLLL domains today and all had backorders on them at Godaddy already but I’m sure many others do not. Godaddy only allows one backorder per domain. The reason that it makes sense to place the backorder at Godaddy is because they offer the backorder for $18.95 compared to the minimum $60 backorders at NameJet.com, Pool.com etc. The biggest problem in the past was Godaddy’s backorder system didn’t normally work, but with less competition it appears to work better.
