The Snuggie For Kids® blanket with sleeves which once started out being marketed the confusing name Snugglette, has been a very hot little product! I started marketing this product nearly the first day that it was launched and I called it Snuggie For Kids from the start.

The interesting thing for me, at the time, I was really the only person to call it Snuggie For Kids and Google clearly ranked me very well (#1) for the term. For a short period of time, I was ranked # 1 and # 2 for the term Snuggie For Kids. I included a little write up about the kids blanket with sleeves and provided a link to the product an included several banner images of the product as well. These were affiliate links and I would earn a small commission with each sale.

Snuggie For KidsFor nearly 4 months, I remained at the top of Google for the Snuggie For Kids search term and would normally make at least a couple sales per day. I personally have the adult Snuggie and enjoy it, so I could see why people were buying the kids Snuggie.

Once the makers of the product did a little rebranding and named the product the make sense term, Snuggie For Kids, it was only time that other’s would be hunting down the keywords that I used from the start. Snuggie For Kids!

The product site that I was sending my traffic to, clearly grew and they switched from Snugglette.com to SnuggieForKids.com . Since the product was now named with what I focused my keywords on from the start, the competition got a lot stronger! Big sites like Amazon.com, Kmart.com, ToysRUs.com were now all fighting for the top spots on Google because of the rebranding of the blanket. I beat them out for sometime because I was the first, but sadly my ranking kept dropping slowly.

Even though I was sliding down the ranks to the # 3 spot, I would still get some sales. I then slide down to #6 spot on Google and right around Christmas I was holding the #10 spot. The #10 spot is the last one on Page 1! Even at number 10, I was still on page 1 and still making some sales but clearly not as many as being # 1.

With in the past couple days, my posting that held it’s page 1 ranking for nearly 9 months, as finally dropped off page 1 and sales have slipped due to it!

I think this shows a couple things. It pays to be early! It is vital to be on page 1 on Google for a specific keyword term and lastly, other sites will be gunning for you to know you off of the top spot as well!

Now my goals have changed a little bit as I want to see if I can get back on the first page again! I hope Google shows me a little love as I was the first and they ranked me # 1 for sometime because of it.

It can be a little frustrating as well, because many other affiliate marketers are using the term Snuggie For Kids in there domain names, which are also out ranking me now. All the TOS that I have read and I even got emails from the affiliate company stating that process can not be used.
