I think most domain investors keep a pretty close eye on all reported domain name sales. NameBio.com, Sedo’s Home Page, DnJournal.com etc.
The one thing that I see a great deal of the time are simply domain names that I wouldn’t even register or think of buying. This many times makes me scratch my head and makes me think… Am I missing something? Am I investing in some wrong area’s? Should I just start buying "Whatever"?

The above is just a very small sample of domains reported sold on Sedo.com’s home page today. Now looking through These domain names, what would I have registered/purchased out of the group…
Euro-Pack.com No, I do not own any Hypenated domain names. I think the lone good thing about them is for SEO.
Incognito.net Maybe, but I would not pay that much for it.
SexBot.com No, this domain doesn’t make a ton of sense to the common person. It did sell for $12K, but I think Traffic played a bigger part to this then the keywords in the domain.
PrivacyService.com Heck Yah! Great domain and I would of paid the $1,655 it sold for. Great domain with Very Clear meaning! I think this was a Steal Really!
Slow.com Yes! Not 100% on how to cash in on the domain at $42K. Computer upgrades or something like that. 4 letter dictionary terms are a no brainer really!
GlobalWallet.com No! Doesn’t make sense to me. Makes me scratch my head more at $6K, but somebody has a plan for it and they thought $6K was a fair price.
SpencerCounty.com Maybe! 13 daily searches for the term but I personally wouldn’t pay much for it. Somebody living in or near Spencer County would be more interested in this domain then me.
Simplify-It.com No! Hypenated domain, never owned one! It’s a common term, but I wouldn’t think it’s a heavily searched term.
Elain.com Yes! It’s a first name and a typo of a first name (e at the end).
Londons.co.uk No! Never owened a .co.uk due to all the paperwork.
Choosable.com Yes! But I really have never had any luck with dictionary term words that end in able.
1888.net Yes! It’s a history year, triple 8’s which is a lucky number in china etc. Anytime you have multipul good things going for a domain name helps me decide to buy or not.
Meagan.com Yes! Great domain being a very common girls first name!
So 5 No’s, 2 maybe’s and 6 yes, which really means I would of most likely missed out on 7 of 13 sales… That’s not a great number for ME. I still will not change what I buy, but I might think outside the box a little more and start buying some more questionable domains that I had second thoughts about before. Domains like SpencerCounty.com are safe buys, but I passed them before. I will still not buy Hypenated domains, but clearly there is some market for them. Dictionary terms are nearly Always safe buys in the .com, .net and .org TLD’s. I will also continue buying two word combo’s that Make Sense. GlobalWallet.com may make sense to some, but not to me. GlobalMarket.com yes, InternationalExchange.com yes, ForeignExchange.com yes..

I did really see anything in this group that jumped at me and said BUY, but it really depends on what You are looking for and what you plan on doing with it.
