Good story, Jamz.

Remember the other angle - sometimes lowering your reserve below what YOU think the domain is worth because of pressure from the auction house can leave you with a bad taste if your domain sells for that lowered reserve with only one bidder. I've seen this happen many times, heard the complaints, and warn my clients to never lower their reserve to below their appraised value unless they need quick cash.

There are a lot of saavy domain buyers, and without going into detail, your domain can be bought for way below wholesale value because of things happening you don't understand. Don't lower your reserve because the auction house tells you "lowered reserves excite the buyers to bid, and lots of bidders makes the price go higher". That's not the case 90% of the time. You will most likely get one bidder nabbing your domain at a price you never wanted to sell it for.

as a newbie to the world of domaining id just like to thank the postwriter for the excellent tips. i recently put up for auction my domain cityoflondonUK.com i think i must of priced everyone out the market. I entered a reserve of what i thought was a reasonable ammount. there were no takers. so its back to the drawing board for that one. many thanks and keep up the good work

Online Auctions are a waste of time and many of the domain names sold on there are undervalued since most of the domain auction have a bulk list of domain names 4 sale.

If u have a good domain name let the interested buyer find U and make an offer to buy the domain name from u (so u get a good $$ amount).

Do not settle for bread crumbs when u can get the whole bread loaf.

We like to "hold the upper hand" whenever we can. Auctions allow us to throw away some of our cards and get the ante back on them when we need to.

Cheers!
