I was one of the ten’s of millions that watched the Super Bowl and the hyped Super Bowl commercials that come with the game. NBC has reported that all 67 ad spots were sold in the range of $2.4-$3 Million Dollars per spot that totalled up to $206 Million.

So what companies that paid these millions of dollars for the 30 second spots included their domain names that allowed them to continue their message online at least at some point in the commerical? What companies didn’t? What companies didn’t run an ad at all?

It all started in the "Pre-Game". The following ads were run With the companies domain. MarquisJet.com, Hulu.com, CareerBuilder.com, RefreshEverything.com (Pepsi) but they displayed the domain in all lower case which to me made it very hard to read. refresheverything.com was what it looked like. Then eTrade.com with it’s "baby at a web cam" in a Taylor Made golf visor. Funny! Carnival.com and the final was Sprint using Sprint.com/nextel .

Who didn’t include a domain in their ad in the Pre-Game? Aleve didn’t, nor did Mercedes-Benz. Taco Bell failed to do so as well but had in the past. Exxon Mobil, Verizon and Gillette didn’t include a domain.

Game Time Ads

Disney kicked off the show with it’s UniversalHeros.com which was a catchy domain. With Chevy, Ford and Chyrsler absent from the ads due to nearly being bankrupt, Hyundai took Full Advantage of this! They sponsored special parts of the game and ran a TON of ads! They used a catchy Call-to-action domain name EditYourOwn.com. Doritos continued with it’s popular "user created ads" and it’s SnackStrongProductions.com domain name in it’s ad. I scratched my head when the Potato Heads were in the car but that was a Bridgestone ad with BridgestoneTire.com used.

EdgeMonkeys.com was used during a very funny "GreaseMonkey" theme for Castrol motor oil. This domain forwards to CastrolEdgeUSA.com . Godaddy.com rolled out it’s first of two commercials at 6:07 PM CT. They were the First and ONLY company to show it’s domain name for the whole commercial.

I got sick of writing down all the Movie domains but their were ALOT of them and I don’t remember any! Gatorade used it’s MissionG.com domain followed by Cars.com. Hulu.com which is owned by NBC was used in an ad With NBC.com at the same time. Disney was back, promoting the UP movie and used Disney.com this time. NFL had many commercials and they used a different domain nearly Each Time! In this ad it was NFL.com/GameRewind.

H & R Block the tax  company used Hrblock.com and a company I never heard of was Teleflora.com.

Pedigree, Budweiser, and Bud Light failed to use any domain name in it’s commercials. The same thing for United Way, Coca Cola, Denny’s, Pepsi (Pepsuiber commerical), Budweiser again, Bud Light Lime and Michelob failed to use a domain in it’s ads as well.

Back on track again with those who DID use a domain name in their ad.

NFL and Monster teamed up and Monster.com happened to be the only one to "go to the left" and use the the sub domain NFL.Monster.com . Cheetos.com was offered nice and clear. The drink SoBe used SoBelieve.com. NFL.com was used again just before Half Time.

Toyota.com, Priceline.com, Overstock.com, Alltel.com and Chase.com followed during half time.

Monster.com had another funny one with the "Moose Mount" commercial. FrostedFlakes.com used it’s brand name followed by yet another NFL.com/SuperAd and then NFL.com/ProBowl.com . Hyundai was back with HyundaiUSA.com . MC Hammer and Ed McMahon were used for the Cash4Gold.com ad. They explained their domain as "Cash, the number four, gold dot com". Vizio.com put an arrow that pointed to my Samsung logo which was their point and it worked like a charm on my TV.  They said if it didn’t say Vizio here (arrow pointing) you likely Over Paid for your tv. LOL Godaddy.com followed with it’s second ad, which I thought was the best of it’s two. EcoMagination.com was used by GE and USANetwork.com was the final.

The most noteable companies that I noticed not in the ads were the "Big 3" Ford, Chevy & Chrysler. Miller Lite didn’t show it’s face either.
