Here are some more tips for using Redrops.com . These can help to tell you if a domain is dropping or not.

Tip # 1~ The domains listed on Redrops.com are all in Auction. The life cycle of these domains: come from the Pending Delete lists, enter in public auction and if no bids are placed, then they redrop at the date and times listed on Redrops.com . Now if you find one that you think is worth bidding on, here are the sources!

5AM = SnapNames.com (auctions end the Day Before, the date listed on Redrops at approx 2:00 CT)
10AM = Pool.com (auctions end, the same day listed on Redrops at about 9:30 CT)

Tip # 2~ How do I know if the domain is really going to drop on the times and dates on Redrops.com ? Your best way to check is via Whois.sc and watch the DNS. Second would be to watch the auction. All snapnames auctions end in 9. So if the price is still ending in 9, it’s very likely the domain has no bids. ($9, $19, $29, $39 etc)

SnapNames.com uses certain DNS for certain days that domains are in  public auction. They look like this, SATURDAY.DNS1.OREGONNAMES.COM or SUNDAY.DNS1.OREGONNAMES.COM etc.

If a domain that is on Redrops.com in the 5AM section does not match the DNS like that just before the drop and shows ns1.interimnameserver.com or anything else, then it was purchased at auction and paid for. There are times that domains do get bids and are not paid for at drop time, so the DNS will not change and will not drop as well. With these two tips, you should be able to get a better judge on what will or will not drop.

The 10AM drops should show dns1.pool.com, so if it shows different, it was purchased at auction.

Publishing this information in a blog such as this is you are guaranteed snapnames will changes things. You are also limiting everyones chances by sharing such information. Just my 2 cents.

If snap changes it, I will update :) SnapNames drops about 30,000 domain names a day, so there are plenty for the taking. eNom grabs 15,000 on average daily, but they start picking up domains about 15 minutes after the drop starts.

My goal is to not allow eNom to get so many and have domainers that may use the domain or purchase it for an investment get them.

You are missing my point, domainers like myself are getting them and by posting this information including times, you minimize my chances.
Some things should remain a secret – shhhhhh – no more secrets please.

    James~
I go for them as well and so do hundreds of others. Time to beef up the software you use ;)
It will be short lived anyway! Enjoy the competition for now. ICANN should be adding their fee soon, so it will all change.

BTW~Why do you think so many people read DotWeekly.com, because I give out Great Secrets that others don’t. :)

Sounds like a nice way to get some traffic to your blog but not much respect within the industry..

“Sounds like a nice way to get some traffic to your blog but not much respect within the industry..”

Says WHO? The domain industry is all about Helping Others IMO! People that do not share any info… those are the ones who should not get the respect in the industry.

Posting information like this is like posting the receipe to the kernels chicken. It is simply self promotion for your blog and the two other sites you are trying to drive traffic to. This entire blog seems like self promotion now that a read a few more posts. It only contains your affiliate links to sedo, cj, godaddy, and numerous mentions of your sites.

It’s your dream James, so make it as big as you would like! Read the past 3 posts on the home page, besides the Redrops.com posts! I post many Helpful stories and not just self promote! I do have links and ads, but isn’t that what web sites and blogs are all about? Oh yah, this is my blog, so why wouldn’t I promote my sites? It’s people like YOU, that give the domain industry a bad wrap. Why don’t you post your REAL email? Afraid somebody might find out who you are?

Jamie, this information is invaluable to many new domainers. I can understand how James might feel as your creating more competition for him in that particular field, however James needs to understand that the Domain industry needs solid community members like Jamie, to help out people in understanding and finding decent domain names. For you to attack Jamie because he is trying to help others out, is just plane silly. His affiliate links and trying to send traffic to his own sites, is nothing more than ANY other Domainer would do.

    Good post Jamie,

  10. This is my first time commenting here but not my first time on the site. (It’s been a great resource Jamie, thanks). In the future, I’ll be taking a more active role on the many blogs I visit primarily because that’s what keep site’s like this alive — communication.

As a professional in the advertising industry, I know the significance of communication. On the outside, we communicate brand messages every day. Internally, we communicate amongst each other. Coming from different backgrounds — copywriters, designers, developers, technologists etc., we all have much to bring to the table. But every now and then you get an individual who is insecure and feels threatened by sharing what they know. Funny how they are also the ones with the biggest egos half of the time. Keeping things secret serves no one. Not even one self. In the long run, you are limiting your own growth. Here I thought the advertising world was cut-throat… in comes the world of Domains.

I’m two years into this industry and quickly learning the ins and outs. I know that behind it all is the Almighty dollar! But if you want to be truly successful, get a clue! It’s more than that. When you figure it out, you’ll realize that success starts there.

I’m currently working on launching my own blog filled with insight that hopefully will help Domainers who are DEVELOPING their domains. IMO, I’ve seen many domains that were bought/sold for millions but the site itself is a disappointment in the areas of usability, branding, copy etc. — drop the ball in those areas and you could potentially lose visitors = lose $ = :`( Since I’m not an expert on domains, I will not be the one to talk about industry news (of course if I come across something valuable long the way worth sharing I will), instead I will be offering ideas on how to develop your domains, via brand, messaging, creative etc. That will be my contribution. I hope it’s as helpful to others as this blog and other sites have been to me.

I commend you Jamie and hope that you and others are encouraged to share what they know.

It takes people getting off their butt to actually take advantage of this, and the people with the skills to do that are probably already doing it. This discounts noobs from taking anything away from this really, they won’t be rushing to get reseller accounts and whipping up scripts using registrar APIs, etc…

The kernels chicken? Now THAT would be something… :)

Good work Jamie, I noticed you were into this early last year when you out registered me on pejr.com, then I saw it come up on ebay last year. Man that james guy needs to get a life. No point being greedy with secrets, life is about sharing!

    Take care from Josh
