I went to the Toby Keith concert on Friday night with my wife and had a good old time! I look at advertising all the time on TV, Billboards, Print etc and am always amazed that many companies do not include their domain names in the ads they show and run.

A concert is No Different. You have Thousands of people in front of you and using your resources does not hurt to continue your message after the show is over!

Advertising is a method of putting your product or service in front of people so they know about you or it! Domain Names allow you to continue your message after you capture the eye of a potential customer. NOT showing your domain name in ads or even at a concert is like saying Call Me and not leaving a phone number! Doesn’t make sense to me to not include it!

Toby does a great job of advertising for FORD which is a sponsor of him, but he isn’t doing a good job of advertising himself to sell more "Toby Keith" shirts, CD’s, Tickets and so on!

Now people may already know the name of Toby Keith, but do they know his other name? Even if you might Think they know your domain, why not Remind them of it!

Maybe people would be interested in signing up for the Toby Keith Fan Club or to check out the Official Toby Keith Store, Pictures, Tour Lineup  which all happen to be on his site TobyKeith.com .

7,089 reasons I saw for Toby to put his domain name on the big ass backdrop screen many times, but never came up once. Nor did he voice it during the whole show.

Not only would all the people at the concert see his domain name, think of all the pictures that are taken During the show that get plastered all over social networking sites, blogs etc. It’s Free Advertising!!! Have you noticed, Ford is in all the pictures that I have posted so far… TobyKeith.com in a cool logo can be done the very same way without being "tacky".

You spend the time and money to build your site that allows 24/7 world wide access, shopping and more but you don’t advertise any of the things you offer in front of people that pay to come and see You? All you have to do, is get creative and display your domain a couple times during the show and people show up, spend money and become even bigger fans even after you made $60 off them at the concert!

Toby makes Millions, but I see Millions more being left on the table by simple leaving out his Domain Name during his shows.

    Hey Jamie,

Nice post. On a related note, did you happen to see who was the sponsor on the hood of Tony Stewart’s car during the Nationwide Series event at Daytona last weekend? His car-owner, Rick Hendrick, put not just his dealer network on the hood, but the actual domain name hendrickcars.com

Stewart won and in the post-race interview made a point to mention the domain a bunch of times and pointed out that Hendrick had tons of inventory to sell.

The adage used be be “run well on Sunday, sell on Monday” for NASCAR sponsors, but with the web, it could very well be run well on Sunday, sell on Sunday.

    @ James,
I had wrote about Tony driving the car but I couldn’t find my post that I did. I did watch the race and he gave Many plugs to HendrickCars.com before and after the race. I was proud of him ;) I agree about the win on Sunday, Sell on Sunday part with websites now. Side note: The Nationwide race was on a Saturday when Tony won. Win on Saturday, Sell on Saturday, all the same thing :)
