I have always been a fan of .org domain names due to the huge "trust" factor the domain names have and add in the fact that they rank well on search engines and that may be why we are seeing several very nice domain name sales this year for the .org TLD.
In fact, 2010 produced the highest selling .org domain name of all time when Poker.org grabbed a cool $1 Million in February 2010.
This week didn’t produce any six or seven figure .org domain name sales but five figure domain name sales are nothing to over look either!
Sedo rolled two, five figure .org domain name sales that included:
Tracker.org for $18,000. The domain name shows some activity dating back to 2001 based on DNS but was dropped from the registry in 2007 and was registered again then. So the current creation date in whois indicates 2007 and the domain name has been parked with Sedo Parking from around the time when the domain name was registered in November 2007. The domain is still in the transfer process, so the new owner is not known at time of posting.
WeddingPhotography.org was another five figure sale at $10,000 USD. This domain name was also registered back around 2001 according to whois records but was also dropped from the registry back in 2003. The current creation date is shown as 2003. TheNameStore.com owned the domain name from at least 2004 to the current time of sale. This domain is also still in the transfer process.
PlaygroundEquipment.org took home $5,000 also at Sedo and has similar history to both of the above domains. It was registered as early as 2000 but holds a current creation date of 2003. Interestingly enough, according to DomainTools.com Sales History, PlaygroundEquipment.org sold in 2008 on Sedo for $390, so a nice profit of around $4,600 in two years!
Several other PlaygroundEquipment.TLD domain names have sold recently as well:
PlaygroundEquipment.info $10,000 on September 15, 2010 in a private sale.
PlaygroundEquipment.biz $4,000 also a 2010 reported private sale.
I would think if the .org seller was aware of the .info selling for $10K, they likely could have counter offered for higher than the $5K the .org sold for. Both the .biz and .info have whois privacy protection.
NameJet.com had its hand in several .org domain name sales to note of as well and those include:
Ecosystem.org $1,959
OGD.org $620
LCR.org $1,877
Pack.org $1,210
Ernsi.org $710
SWVRC.org $465
WaterRightsConference.org $2,520
The two other highest reported .org domain names that have sold in 2010 include:
TaxAttorney.org $35,000
DUIAttorney.org $35,000
with both of those selling in March 2010.
CJ.org was reported sold for $29,420
RandomActsOfKindness.org also banked $25,000 which I covered back in July of 2010 and is currently the 5th highest reported .org domain name sale this year.
Dating.org has been the "Bargain" sale for .org this year at $22,500 which sold at a domainer auction at DomainFEST in February 2010.
CH.org also sold in February for $21,600
