UFC® and Spike® have partnered and launched a new site at UltimateFighter.com . The UFC is the most popular MMA organization that I know of and also has a TV show on Spike that is called The Ultimate Fighter. The domain name UltimateFighter.com according to whois records was owned by MDNH Inc. which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marchex Inc. since at least 7-4-2008.
Although a sale was not announced publicly, the domain name did change ownership on 1-6-2010 to the UFC and the new site was launched in mid March. The new web site features video, news and much more.
Marchex Inc. owns a lot of domain names and is never one to sell "cheap" and I wouldn’t expect this domain name to be any different. Marchex paid $164 Million Dollars for the Yun Ye domain name portfolio in 2005 and holds many valuable generic domain names in their portfolio but may have softened up a little bit as of late and has sold several domain names. Marchex Inc, using the subsidiary MDNH Inc. even started listing its domain names for sale on the site in or around September of 2009.
Even though they did start listing domain names for sale, most would still consider the asking prices as far fetched for the average person.
The domain name TheUltimateFighter.com has been privacy protected since 2006, so ownership of that domain name could not be confirmed but I would be willing to think the UFC does not own the domain. The domain name forward to sports.yahoo.com/mma but that does not mean Yahoo owns the domain nor UFC. It is just not likely.
UltimateFighter.com was registered with Moniker.com at the time ownership changed in January 2010 but currently is with the domain name registrar Network Solutions and registered out until 2018 currently.
