TechCrunch.com posted some data from surveys Google had run back in 2004-2005 time frame for AdWords. Even though this data is about 5 years old, I would bet a large portion of the data is still pretty accurate.
The article is titled The Selling Of Google AdWords and about half to 3/4 the way down in the article, there are three embed slide shows that I think contain the most useful data to domainers / developers.
Page 11 of the first document slide show starts showing interesting data. Page 14 of the doc is pretty interesting, showing that 79% of users typed keywords into a SE to find what they were looking for. 57% typed The Company Name to find what they were looking for and 49% used Direct Navigation (aka, typing in the URL directly into the address bar).
Page 22 shows the importance of the attributes in a sponsored listing. Approx 12-14% is the URL.
The second slide talks all about entertainment products or services and has some nice data as well.
The third slide talks All about Travel data. This has unlimited amounts of data that can be greatly useful to GEO owners and travel related site / domain owners in general. This data can also be used for travel related domain sellers for added selling points.
For an example, slide page #3 shows that the vast majority of Google users researched / purchased hotel (83%) and or airline (79%) information / product services online.
Slide page #8 shows that a large majority (85%) accessed travel information using a search engine, with 69% using direct navigation.
Again, I suggest you take a couple minutes and check out this data. This can greatly help you in many ways depending if you are a domain seller of like domains or developing specific domains. Enjoy.

That’s some nice stuff, thanks Jamie.
I normally don’t have time to thumb through most of the tech websites but that article is spot on.
