What are the chances that one of the largest egg recall is taking place and the matching keyword domain name EggRecall.com is in PendingDelete status? 100% right now!
I often check terms like this when they become widespread news and the term can hold traction over the years. Eggs get recalled just as many other products do and people want information on it when it happens. Egg Recall and the matching term EggRecall.com simply make sense to those searching for information on the specific recall and can provide vital information to those looking for it.

While looking into the domain name EggRecall.com this morning after hearing the recall was expanded to 380 million, interestingly enough the domain was let expire by Moniker.com customer Mark Michael of Evo Landing according to whois records on June 5, 2010. The domain was first registered in June of 2007. The domain is just about finished following the release process and can not be renewed by the past owner in PendingDelete status and it will be removed from the registry on or about 8/23/2010. 1 bid has already been placed at NameJet!
I guess this is proof that you win some and lose some. IMO, it is very likely that if Mr. Michael still owned this domain today by paying the renewal just one more year… he would have had offers coming in to purchase it due to the current egg recall going on. This is normally the kind of luck I would have!

By the time this domain is snapped up, this topic will be passe. The American public has the memory of a gnat and by 8/23 will be chasing yet another event.

BullS
Domainers are picky and somewhat “racist”
I don’t see anyone registering domains relating to the crisis in Pakistan?
Who cares ? right?

You just never know what kind of strategy is behind recalls and domain name registrations.

It seems that when people get sick and can sue large corporations, even when the news coverage falls off, with salmonella, more and more people tend to get ill, despite the news dip.
I Just picked up the name eggrecall.com, and have it set up on WhyPark with Google Adsense.
One thing to remember, in cases like this, is that while news will taper off, there have been *thousands* of people who have gotten sick, so far. And, guess who's lining up to make hay? Lawyers… personal injury lawyers to be precise. And these sick people don't forget…
Basic business economics would dictate that it takes only a very small percentage of sick people who sue to make a substantial amount of money in the suit, and to make a good chunk for their lawyers.
In Texas, one firm sent a press release that they were the first to file first:
http://www.setexasrecord.com/news/229240-travis-county-woman-files-first-texas-tainted-egg-lawsuit. According to the article, the firm plans 50 more suits.
When the story began to break, in the news, ABC news devoted more than 4 minutes to the topic; usually a story will get 1.5 – 3.0 minutes… http://abcnews.go.com/WN/egg-recall-millions-wright-county-eggs-involved-marler/story?id=11430502
Pretty soon, the big guns came out:

Marler is big in the biz: http://www.marlerclark.com/firm_profile.
For now, search traffic has skyrocketed:
http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22egg+recall%22
Compare that with the issues of peanut butter recall:
http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22peanut+butter+recall%22%2C+%22egg+recall%22&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0 — and you see the scope.

I’m not sure I totally agree. I would say that, unfortunately, many of us *follow the $$*. Don’t know that I’d call that racist.
All that to say, the domain name http://www.eggrecall.com may have value to me, if properly developed; it may also have value to law firms, or other companies. For reference please see:

ConAgra was very fortunate in this case, and got the name for reg fee. My acquisition was a bit more costly.
Would welcome further discussion.
